Saying that the poverty is in people’s heads is an nonsense excuse

According to the director of the Institute of Social and Economic Studies, economist and Professor Nuno Castel-Branco, the systematic speech of the president, according to which “In Mozambique, poverty only exists in people’s heads,” is an excuse meaningless or “political strategy” to divert attention from critics as to the governance and relieve the government of its responsibilities to the people of Mozambique. Therefore, Castel-Branco made these declarations during the launch of the third International Conference of the Institute of Social and Economic Studies to be held in September in Maputo and will have as its main theme “Mozambique: Accumulation and Transformation in the Context of International Crisis” . The Electoral legislation:  The final Proposal will be completed in July

The parliamentary commission  in which was  mandated to review the electoral legislation ensured last Wednesday due to expire until July 30 next, the preparation of the final proposal to be deposited in the Assembly of the Republic (AR) for their deliberations. However, this proposal contains the compiled versions of the contributions that were given in the various discussions all over the country will again be the subject of public debate as soon as they finish the ongoing work. STAE enables staff in conflict management

The Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration,  will held in June and in the  next July, three regional training courses in leadership and conflict management  involving  all senior managers of the institution under its program of capacity building. Mozambique was praised by – IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) praised on Wednesday the government for its sound policies adopted by Mozambique and the “strong economic performance, sector remained robust in 2011.” These statements are extracts from a press release issued by the executive board of the IMF at the end of its fourth review of Mozambique’s economic program under the Instrument for Policy Support (Policy Support Instrument, PSI), the IMF describes the PSI as a mechanism “designed for middle-income countries who do not want or need IMF financial assistance, but who need advice, monitoring and approval of its policies.”  (http://www.rm.co.mz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2447:mocambique-merece-um-elogio-fmi&catid=1:ultimas&Itemid=50).

In  the search of the procedure speed: Administrative Court creates unique figure of judge

The Administrative Court will introduce the figure of a single judge  in this year, as a way to bring more speed to the processes which arrive at the court. At that under current legislation, the processes can only be judged by a panel of judges, which contributes to the lengthy procedure. According Machatine Munguambe,  the President of the Administrative Court, the figure of a single judge will be facing the trial of cases taken as a simple fact which will lead citizens to obtain and timely answers their concerns. Contracts for the exploitation of mineral resources should be published by the government of Mozambique

The representative of the International Monetary Fund in Mozambique, Victor Lledó, assured on Thursday in Maputo that the contracts for exploration should be signed by the Mozambican government with companies connected with industry in the country. Therefore, Lledó further argued that the government of Mozambique should develop standard contracts which conform to international standards. Mozambique loses $ 250 million per year by importing of packaging

The lack of an industry specializing in packaging production in Mozambique, for the preservation and marketing of various products produced locally makes the country lose millions of dollars annually on importation. According to data from IPEME, the country spends or invests 250 million U.S. dollars per year in importing various types of packaging such as plastic bottles, and others commonly used in Mozambique to the conservation of domestic products in order to have access to regional and international markets. Portuguese consortium repair road in which link the port of Beira and Zimbabwe

The repair project of the most critical of the asphalt mat of National Road 6, that linkd the port of Beira to the border town of Machipanda with neighboring Zimbabwe, are already underway. However, a contract valued at $ 4.8 million awarded to a Portuguese consortium MCA (M. Couto Alves) consisting of the companies MCA Mozambique, M. The Population of Murrupula is worried about unbridled exploitation of the forest

On the occasion of World Environment Day; the population of Murrupula in Nampula province expressed that is  disappointment at the levels of deforestation. The Lawyers Association accuses the Attorney General to be “weak with the strong”

The Lawyers Association of Mozambique is outraged and throws harsh criticism of the conduct of the attorney general’s office regarding the case of the controversial statements of the general commander of the PRM, Jorge Khálau.  Says he is also outraged at the silence of Augusto Paulino and the President, Armando Guebuza. In additional, Gilberto Correia reiterated recently that Paulino should have ordered a criminal action against the master. Violence sow panic among taxi drivers in Nampula

A murder and attempted murder of two taxi drivers in Nampula in northern Mozambique, which occurred in the last three weeks have sown panic and led the authorities to admit the existence of a real danger to the class. The situation of insecurity, which includes systematic assaults, led to some taxi operators threaten to abandon the activity. According to Dina Top, Head of Public Relations of the Provincial Police Command in the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), three cases of assault on taxi operators were registered with the provincial capital in less than three weeks. The Attorney General defended the intervention of Non- governments to assistants in the crimes of trafficking in persons

The Attorney General of the Republic of Mozambique (PGR) in Maputo defended today the need for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to protect victims of trafficking in persons to intervene as “assistants” in criminal proceedings against this type of crime.  The informatio was given in a debate on “Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Persons,”  The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic of Mozambique, Lucia Maximiana do Amaral said that the appointment of an assistant to organizations geared to the defense of victims of trafficking will give efficacy to Fighting this evil in Mozambique.
