Maputo Summit: CPLP gives priority in Food Security

Under the theme “The CPLP and Challenges in Food Security and Nutrition,” the leaders of the Community of Portuguese-speaking countries meet today in Maputo, in its ninth summit, which should also analyze the application to join member full of Equatorial Guinea and the political situation in Guinea-Bissau, whose government, imposed by the coup of April, was not invited to be represented at the meeting. The President of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva, is in Mozambique to participate in the Summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and after a meeting yesterday in the morning with his counterpart Armando Guebuza. The Eradication of hunger in the country’s priorities

The Food security and normalization of the political situation in Guinea-Bissau are two of seven strengths that Mozambique will highlight during the presidency of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), that starts today. The President of the European Commission ensures that EU will continue to support Mozambique

According to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, the European Union will continue to support Mozambique. In this sequence, Barroso signed three agreements worth 36 million Euros for local development, civil society and democratic institutions. The Mozambique’s economy should grow 7.5% in this year and 7.9% in 2013

The Mozambique’s economy is expected to grow 7.5% and 7.9% in 2012 and 2013, respectively, according to a report by the African Development Bank (ADB) released Wednesday in Maputo. Therefore the report “African Economic Outlook 2012″, which in this 11th edition focuses on promoting youth employment, states that a considerable part of the growth will be driven by mining, particularly coal. Portuguese Portucel should start producing pulp in Mozambique in 2022

Portucel has already begun rehearsals forest to start production of new pulp mill in Mozambique. According to the company’s president, Jose Honorio, such production will only happen in 2022. On the other hand, the same said that he believed that Mozambique is a level of growth for the company; in addition to help promote exports of Mozambique in more than a billion dollars a year. Mozambique has the potential to achieve the MDGs –

Mozambique and Angola have the potential to achieve significant part of the millennium goals, but fall short of the most critical goals: reducing poverty rates by half and the rate of death of the child and mother. However, an assessment of progress of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in member countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) filed yesterday in Maputo indicates that all States belonging to this organization joined the formal commitment by world leaders in Millennium Summit. Mozambique with diet poorest in the region

Mozambique has a poorer diet in Southern Africa, from the standpoint of micronutrients and protein, according to regional reports on the subject, cited by the Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN). According SETSAN, the diet of the northern part of Mozambique is the country’s rich cassava, a product with low protein content, and in the south stands the corn. PRM captures AKM, 65 ammunition and cannabis

In coordination with members of community policing, police officers of the command PRM in Marromeu district in Sofala province, seized, last Sunday, a gun-type AKM, 65 ammunition and a pound of cannabis. This was revealed by the press officer in charge of the PRM Sofala province.
