The Support of the Netherlands: Luisa Diogo advocates the dialogue

The former Prime Minister of Mozambique Mrs Luisa Diogo defends the need for dialogue between the Government of Mozambique and the Netherlands to prevent the announced withdrawal of support to the State Budget, from next year. It should be noted that the Netherlands has decided to suspend its financial assistance for the year 2013 in Mozambique, because of doubts hanging over its governance and its ability to fight corruption, announced Thursday, the embassy in Mozambican capital.(http://www.jornalnoticias.co.mz/pls/notimz2/getxml/pt/contentx/1485258)

Oldemiro Baloi and Tomaz Salomao launches today the SADC fortnight

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Oldemiro Baloi, and Executive Secretary of SADC, Tomaz Salomao, make today the launch of the festivities and work of the 32th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Community Development of Southern Africa (SADC .) The launch in the city of Maputo, and marks the beginning of the second biggest party in SADC that Mozambique hosts, less than one month after the summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). ). Japan finances the second machine demining

The Japanese Government will fund the purchase of a second machine for the demining process in the country in order to streamline the process of cleaning articles of war in our country. The support comes in the context of cooperation relations between the two countries, in which the Government of Japan pledged in 2010 to fund the program for Mechanical Demining in Mozambique, financing it through the bottom of Equivalent. Over 300 children get Identity cards in Nampula province

Just over three hundred children whose parents usually face financial difficulties to obtain the identity (IC) are benefiting from a campaign yesterday to get this document in the province of Nampula. The promoter of the initiative is the school basketball court called “Intsay”, which includes the funding of the School of Education and Communication at the Catholic University of Mozambique in the province. The Italian group ENI found more natural gas in Mozambique

The Italian group ENI petrochemicals found at least 10 billion cubic feet of natural gas in the eastern part of Area 4 in the Northeast Mamba exploration block 2, in the Rovuma Basin, northern Mozambique. This new discovery makes the ENI group that acts as operator of the block, has already found at least 70 billion cubic feet of gas, taking all five holes for prospecting in the area had achieved positive results. The Paying taxes in Mozambique will be done through a bank

The Customs duties and the Value Added Tax (VAT) and the Tax on Personal Income Tax (IRPC) will be paid through the bank until the end of 2013. Following the adoption by the government’s Strategic Plan for Tax Payment via Bank, Income Tax for Individuals (IRPS) will also be paid via bank until July 2014. The Implementation Society Interbank is delayed

The Bank of Mozambique acknowledges delays in implementing of  the Interbank Company of Mozambique, a project launched in June last year to reduce the costs of financial transactions through a technological program of unification of the electronic system of commercial banks. Despite the impasse, the Central Bank promises the beginning of the project activities for this year, facilitating banking transactions in a single technology platform for all banks. Metical will be more robust, but the economy will be vulnerable

A survey by Barclays Capital concluded that the metical will remain strong in the next months against major currencies traded in the country, as this year ends with the unity of the dollar fixed at MZN 26.10. However, the mentors of research warn that the economy is vulnerable to the extent that about 70% of exports come from the mega-projects that produce raw materials exposed to the global economic crisis. HUMAN RIGHTS AND LEGALITY

Suspended illegal workers

A total of 25 citizens of Indian nationality were suspended by the General Inspectorate of Labour in the province of Maputo. They were working illegally in construction works and metal. To neutralize the group of inspection brigades worked with the social partners, following complaints from the Association of Unemployed Professionals Metalworking Mozambique.(http://www.jornalnoticias.co.mz/pls/notimz2/getxml/pt/contentx/1485319)

Mozambique will soon have anti-smoking legislation

The government will soon have approved specific legislation aimed at tobacco control, accordance to the devastating health consequences, social, environmental and economic arising from the consumption and exposure to cigarette smoke. Indeed, the Executive meeting on last Tuesday approved the resolution ratifying the Convention – Chart of the World Health Organization to control tobacco to be submitted to Parliament.(http://www.jornalnoticias.co.mz/pls/notimz2/getxml/pt/contentx/1485271)

Bigamy can no longer be a crime in Mozambique

Bigamy may no longer be a crime in Mozambique. This is one of the advances brought by the new text of the Criminal Code that, from today until August 15, will reap benefits in public hearings being held across the country. In this respect, the first committee of the Assembly, after considering the contributions from state bodies and civil society, can conclude is important to integrate the decriminalization of bigamy. In addition to bigamy, the 1st Committee of the Assembly public debate leads to the criminalization of kidnappings, decriminalization of abortion and excessive alcohol consumption.
